Sticks and stones…you know the rest. The modern day witch hunt, the Twitter mob and such killed that simple idea and decided, or we let it happen (for now) the idea that anyone can be ‘offended’ and remove the person, or persons, the source of their offense.
Too often this happens when people are successful. Especially in business. Dan Kennedy said it years ago before being hyper-offended became so acceptable and popular: “When you start making money, you become a target.”
Why? My theory, it’s a form of bullying.
And at it’s root bullying is rooted in deep insecurity and self loathing. These people are jealous and they hate themselves. SO, they blame, and go for the kill.
Yes….these folks who point fingers and shame, blame and accuse are in fact themselves filled with jealousy. Envy.
Envy is the rot of human emotions. Transforming into your own person, successful, strong, prosperous, healthy, wealthy and wise….pisses off a certain percentage of the populous.
Decide which side of the fence you’ll be on. You’re either your own person, or you’re in the tribe that plays victim.
Sadly, when you succeed, you need to play a game of sorts. Keep your head down, and keep making money, make yourself less of a target.
I’ll touch on this topic for a bit this Sunday….with Maggie Habieda. It’s something to be aware of, and there so much more positive and empowering states to pursue when you create and succeed.
Mostly, that’s what the focus will be on. Empowerment.
Being in business is hard. Ain’t no two ways about it. Not for the faint of heart.
Yours in success in photography,
Rob
