When people start believing their own PR and they think they know it all, and they have all the answers, watch out.
Delusions are destructive. Accurate and rational thinking is the antidote.
That, and being honest with yourself.
Last week during the marketing mastermind presentation with John Ratchord, we touched on this, in a sense.
Ego, fooling yourself, fears, thinking we’re anointed with magical powers and skills.
I see this a lot in business. (I dedicated a chapter on this, years ago, in one of my marketing manuals. I simply called it ‘ego’.)
When you push, cajole and aspire for something better, you get burned by destiny. The struggle is real. The lessons, if learned, are priceless.
But the lessons will show up. If you’re open, honest and brave.
Like John said: “I stopped being afraid”
If EGO shows up, fears, courage and lessons run and hide.
We get buried in our own B.S.
I know this sounds like a weird concept to talk about. But it’s too valuable to ignore.
John is the kind of photographer who is a gift to the industry. A gift that keeps on giving.
All you gotta do is open up and grab the ring, open the door.
