Market your studio like a Navy Seal….

May 26, 2017 By Robert Provencher Leave a Comment

Got an idea, a promotion, a money making strategy for your studio?

Never mind the over-complicated, bureaucratic, uber-rhetoric marketing strategies often promoted by the gooroos….

There’s only ONE WAY. Market like  a navy seal. Maria Sampao, now she’s a SEAL if I ever met one.

I prompted (aka light a fire under her butt) her to run a fairy day promo.

So, without hesitation, she did. NO overthinking. NO over planning.

Just go. Set a date. Gets her HUSTLE on! Now….not later. NOW.

Within four weeks, ads run, costumes in the house, everything is set to go.
Like a SEAL.

Her sales were so strong, her success epic, even I got weak in the knees when she told me.

It’s why she joined me yesterday in the May lighting mastermind meeting.

To talk about lighting, yes, and posing, and many other strategies.

She’s successful because she markets like a Navy SEAL….WATCH, LISTEN to the replay HERE.

It’s how it gets done. Like a SEAL.

Fast, easy, and well done food photography…

March 30, 2017 By Robert Provencher Leave a Comment

They wanted mission impossible…all their menu items photographed. Shoot it in an hour, and shoot it for cheap.

Now, these folks had the funds, they had a high quality, very respected restaurant. All they needed was convincing and a plan.

This my friend is part of the sales process. Come up with a strategy, pitch it, and get em to sign on the line.

Light it, shoot it, workflow and deliver.

Running a profitable photography studio involves these tactics moreso than the actual lighting, shooting and ultimate creation of the images. But lighting is important too!

Chatting with the owners, back and forth, we created a strategy. I pitched ideas, concepts, looking to feel them out and see where they were at. Most folks don’t even know where they are at. It appears it’s part of our job, as photographers, to not only deliver the goods, but also get into their heads and own them.

One of the first things I mentioned was if they were in a big city, with a legit food photographer, food designers, assistants etc etc the bill would be around twenty grand. Or so. Mas o menos, as they say in Costa Rica.

But never mind that. I can shoot it, shoot it fast, create images almost as good, and I did.

In the mastermind lighting presentation, tonight, March 30th, 9:00PM EST, I will going through the details and all the nuances I used to shoot the entire menu selection for one of Tamarindo’s finest restaurants.

That, plus other exciting lighting scenarios on the beaches and in the farms of Costa Rica where I spent the last ten weeks. It’s all about lighting and the challenges faced by all photographers.

That, and more.

The lighting mastermind presentation I run with the noBsphotosuccess members is designed to dig into the many facets of lighting, and running a photography studio that shoots families, children, seniors, commercial, publicity, scenics, on and on.

We’re not only business folk. We’re “painters”, using light as our paint.

Early to rise, late to bed….

November 8, 2016 By Robert Provencher Leave a Comment

dsc04853Got home late last night….after 11:00PM…working in the studio, doing workflow.

My neighbor Chris, as usual, two doors down from our condo, outside having a smoke.

He’s always outside, always smoking.

He comments something about me working late, again. He disapproves. I don’t mention the obvious.

He’s used to seeing me coming home most nights,
often betwixt 10:00 and 11:00PM or later.

I tell him I’m over feeling any guilt about working long hours.

“Besides,” I say “It ain’t really work. I love what I do.”

Success is my duty.

I raz him some more… “Don’t forget, I’m saving to go to Costa Rica this winter….3 months while
you’re outside smoking in three feet of snow.”

The real reason I work extra late last night is because it’s November. We’re slammed.

That, and Costa Rica. And I love what I do. And success is my duty.

Sessions, orders, fairy days….

Not to mention the families, the executive sessions….slammed. It never rains, it pours.

I can’t stand falling behind. I strive to consistently be on time, efficient and not lose my mind.

And make maximum profits.

It’s why I created my own super fast fairy workflow.
dsc01705

I can peel through orders faster than a politicians promise on election day.

Time is money.

So, in the spirit of sharing and caring, I created 2 update videos showing my latest supersonic
fairy workflow…..for members.

The first part shows the details step-by-step. The other showing 5 images being workflowed,
little to no explanation, in real time.

Less than 15 minutes each.
