“Listening to you was calming and realistic. I can do this. I will do this….”

June 18, 2018 By Robert Provencher Leave a Comment

Julie writes….:

“It worked!!!! 😉 I was ready to hang up everything the morning of your webinar. I felt like maybe this was not something I should be doing?? But… Ruth Densley, a good friend of mine told me about your webinar. I thought, what the heck. I have nothing to lose. You lit a fire under my ass. Listening to you was calming and realistic. I can do this. I will do this.

Could you do me a favor? Could you go to my website, look at my stuff. Give your honest CC. Let me hear everything!!!!! I truly value your opinion. Julie”

Thanks Julie. As emailed to you, I created a video where I analyzed your website.

And after asking for permission, I posted the same video in the downloads/replay section from the Secrets to building, creating, selling and promoting Enchanted Fairy, Ice Fairy & Medieval Themed Sessions presentation I ran a few days ago.

In all honesty, I had no idea how it was going to go over. I simply gave it my all. And the response has been very positive.

Your reply from my video (summarized):
“I have never been more excited about my fairies until now. I can’t thank you enough. Julie…”

I’ve always said these are some of the best sessions to create and offer in your photography studio.

Han Solo and the feisty transgender interracial feminist robot…

May 29, 2018 By Robert Provencher Leave a Comment

Saw Han Solo the other night. It was decent, “refreshing” as I explained to my wife whilst walking to the car leaving the cinemas.

I told her how I can’t stand movies that insert social justice causes into the story and political correctness. It drives me nuts. They must think they’re hiding it. Not!

It’s so obvious it actually ruins the story line. Give me a break.

And they’re only doing themselves more harm. See, we ALL love a good story.
Not one that preaches to us. The last few Star Wars did just that.

Han Solo, although it won’t win any awards, was fun, light, entertaining….like a good old fashioned western. Me likey….

When Lando entered the scene, and his robot side kick, L3-37, I thought, oh oh….here we go. She’s a feisty transgender interracial feminist robot with a chip on her “shoulder”.

But they only skirted the edges of social justice mania and avoided the entire rabbit hole.

She was a funny, feisty robot. You actually started to relate to her, like as if she’s human. Weird.

Another thing I can’t stand about Hollywood, and this is one small criticism I had about this movie (my wife hears to complain about this ALL the time), is that the main role of Han was played by an actor, who, in my oh so humble yet accurate opinion, was “way too handsome.”

Hollywood does this all the time. They pick actors and actresses because they are super hot, dam near perfect.

Not good. I like flaws. A good actor we can all relate to, not some Instagram picture perfect face and squared jaw.

Actors like Seymour Philipp Hoffman, Al Pacino, Cate Blanchett, Jake Gyllenhaal, Joaquin Phoenix or Frances McDormand ( Fargo)….

You know, somewhat flawed, and quirky. Like me.

Like my marketing. Keep the marketing story simple.

Don’t muddy the waters with your crazy social justice agenda. It ain’t working.

It’s how we market, promote and sell our fairy sessions. Old school, simple, straight up marketing.

Create a product, make an offer, find your target market, and pitch them.

Rope em in.

Once you get them in the loop, then upsell them. Softly. No need to go hard here.

Soft sell is ALL you need when selling these amazing sessions.

It’s called ascension marketing. And I reveal much more in my webinar:

The universe loves speed…. and profits…

December 1, 2017 By Robert Provencher Leave a Comment

The universe loves speed. So do it.

I can’t stand getting bogged down, stuck or glued to a computer for endless hours. Don’t get me wrong, I actually love spending time doing photoshop worklow.

I get to be creative, artistic, and listen to some cool podcasts. I just don’t want to do more then is necessary. Or, if it was ALL I did, I’d hit a wall and go crazy.

For some workflow strategies, like fairy day, or any other higher volume runs, I like to create templates, steps, photoshop actions and a  workflow that is FAST, consistent, and mainly, in the end, profitable.

It’s in that vain that I created a new workflow video for our new medieval knights sessions. See image above. It’s kinda, sorta a spin off the whole fairy thing. And it rocks.

This is for members, and includes the Design House action, exclusive for members, and a custom made textured PSD file. Again, all designed for maximum results, and a great bottom line.

MEMBERS go here for that video tutorial, action and template

“I messaged you, I will take a spot please!!! My daughters are 3 and 6…”

September 25, 2017 By Robert Provencher Leave a Comment

My wife gets mad. “Why are they sending us messages through facebook?”

I tell her it’s one of the ways people reach out. One of the ways they let us know they want to spend money with us.

I too was annoyed. A bit. For a while. Then I realized this is the way it is.
Roll with it. Like a ninja.

And take their money. A client is a client is a client. A sale is still a sale.

What’s more important is the THREE exclamation marks after the word PLEASE!!!

See it? See the passion? The desire? It’s one of the reasons I love shooting fairy sessions.

There’s a ton of passion and a big market that is endlessly flowing along like a huge parade.

All we gotta do is pitch em. I don’t care if they respond via phone, facebook, twitter, instagram, linkedIn, email or in person.

It’s the way we all roll nowadays. In the old days, phone. That was it.

Ultimately, the only thing that matters in the end is whether I have a jam packed schedule, and a happy bank account.

More HERE on my fairy days bookings.

How to create photography that people want to buy…

June 30, 2017 By Robert Provencher Leave a Comment

Here’s a simple idea.

Find a hungry market, and feed them.

In other words, for those running a photography studio, find out where there are hungry markets for a particular style of portrait photography…..and sell them some.

How cool is that?

Why then do so many miss this? I think I have a theory.

But first….let’s ask this question:

“How does it look when we miss this basic marketing tenet?”

Simple. We ain’t making much money. That’s one key indicator.

Another….The phone isn’t ringing.

More….Our mom loves our work and sings our praises.

(I’ve been saying  this for years….never take business advice from your mom.)
She loves you too much.

Likewise, never take advice from the dude selling cameras at the camera store.

He knows jack squat about running a photography studio and making moneeee at it.

Think about it. He’s selling cameras. We tend to glorify them….duh…

We shoot sunsets, tree stumps in swamps or little animals….and oh, we also shoot many hot looking ladies….

….everyone loves those.

We’ve been artistically rendering women since way back when the first dude painted a mammoth on the cave wall….

“Hey, can you draw groks girl…she’s hot!” one caveman said to the other.

These are all easy and fun things to photograph.

Heck, we can even make some high impact images!

But can you make  a business? Make some dough…..?

Create a long term, reliable and solid photography business that you can rely on, year after year?

Okay, my theory. You may have heard this from me before. It’s still a good one and good to know, in case we fall victim ourselves.

Ego. There. I said it. Even better, childish ego.

We think because we easily created some images, we’re amazing. Ego.

We think, magically, somehow, because of this, sales will happen.

Running a serious photography business is another ballgame all together.

It requires a serious and dedicated, ego-free mindset.

Sure, you can have fun. Bask in the glory of your success. Those are all typical ego driven behaviors. We all have that. It’s healthy.

But don’t fall trap to the lesser levels of childish ego.

The truth is, it requires a boatload of courage, determination and a great big set of brass balls.

Oh, and discipline. Lots of it.

Throw in there a healthy mix of reality, staying grounded and ego-free, and if you have a decent product with your photography and you don’t let your ego rule the day, you have a fighting chance.

But keep it real folks. Find a hungry market.

Last I checked they ain’t buying pics of sunsets and stumps….as fun as these are to shoot. (I shoot em all the time…).

Families, events, weddings, babies, children, on and on…seems to be where it’s at.

Where the ground is fertile with opportunities to create products that they want.

Robert Provencher

Market your studio like a Navy Seal….

May 26, 2017 By Robert Provencher Leave a Comment

Got an idea, a promotion, a money making strategy for your studio?

Never mind the over-complicated, bureaucratic, uber-rhetoric marketing strategies often promoted by the gooroos….

There’s only ONE WAY. Market like  a navy seal. Maria Sampao, now she’s a SEAL if I ever met one.

I prompted (aka light a fire under her butt) her to run a fairy day promo.

So, without hesitation, she did. NO overthinking. NO over planning.

Just go. Set a date. Gets her HUSTLE on! Now….not later. NOW.

Within four weeks, ads run, costumes in the house, everything is set to go.
Like a SEAL.

Her sales were so strong, her success epic, even I got weak in the knees when she told me.

It’s why she joined me yesterday in the May lighting mastermind meeting.

To talk about lighting, yes, and posing, and many other strategies.

She’s successful because she markets like a Navy SEAL….WATCH, LISTEN to the replay HERE.

It’s how it gets done. Like a SEAL.

The essence of a great product….good lighting. Learn to see, master light….

May 25, 2017 By Robert Provencher Leave a Comment

James Hodgins still talks about it to this day.

Way back, when he was  a photo newb, I’d take him out to a shoot to assist me.

“Look”, I’d point out “where’s the light?”

He said I’d slap him on the back of the head while asking. Not true.

But he did say that one question changed him forever. He saw the light, so to speak.

It all has to do with seeing the light. Where is the light coming from, what is it doing, and more importantly, what will your final images look like as a result?

Very key questions. This core idea seems lost on many today.

Lighting, good lighting, is essentially half the job when it comes to creating a great product in your photography business.

The second half of course is marketing. But we’ll get to that another day. You know it.

So April sends me an few of her fairy images the other day, and asks….:
“Why don’t my fairy images look ethereal like yours?”

Maria, who also just started shooting fairies at my urging, also sends me some samples a few days ago.

Night and day.

Not sure what April’s sales are like, but Maria gave me a peek at her sales.

Mind blown. She tells me…..in her words….: “BTW you are a GENIUS ROB…”

Blushing.

So I rope Maria in to help me help April, and anyone else who wants to advance their lighting. And bottom line.

Sooner is better, I say. So, we’re having  a lighting mastermind…today.
It’s in the books, Thursday, May 25th, 1:00PM EST. Join us….

We’re going to show you Aprils images, and our images and dissect, reverse engineer and create solutions based on what works for us.

We may, if we have time, touch on some photoshop workflow. Since this also plays a pivotal role in the creation of dynamic images that sell.

Hope to see you there! Of course, if you can’t join us, the recording will be in the forum for members.

DETAILS to register for the Lighting Mastermind HERE.

Not a members? C’mon…..it’s like twenty bucks (Canadian funds no less) to join….
I’m practically giving it away.

Instant access.
