My brain won’t stop. I thought for sure it got filled up years ago. But, alas, there’s still room left in that little pea brain of mine. Go figure.
I call myself an info-junkie. Others might be more generous and say I am a self-educated, self-made man.
Either way, the best education comes from within.
“Marketing is fun, once you get it…”
This line that James quipped keeps buzzing around in my head from last February’s Marketing Mastermind when James Hodgins joined me in this epic event.
There is a lot of truth to it, and hard to express to many small business owners, photographers included.

They say history repeats itself. I wonder why, if true (most likely is)?
When the Mongols have your castle surrounded, what do you do? (For fun, let’s use the Mongols as metaphor.)
EXAMPLE: Everyone is a photographer. Photography as a business model has almost dried up. Cell phones have replaced professional photography. They are EVERYWHERE. You are completely surrounded.

I swear I’ll never pay full price for a shirt, or suit, again. Why?
Two reasons. One, when I shoot weddings I am hard on my clothes (see image above for proof). So, I buy cheaper suits, shirts and vests that tend to last a year, maybe two.
You know, throwaway. When on a wedding I’ll roll around on the road, grass or climb overpasses to create fun cool images with cool angles.
My clothes suffer.

Erol had a lot to say. Yes, we had some temporary tech glitches but we got on track. Some good info and lessons including:
Years ago I interviewed, in two parts, Reg Mess, master photographer, on selling.
I asked: “What is the most common sales objection you hear from clients in the sales room?”
Reg answered, and snickered: “I don’t.”
What he means is this….when it comes to the proofing session the clients are so primed, so educated, so pumped, so ready to buy, there are literally zero objections.
