Another Beach Session…

Screen Shot 2016-04-17 at 4.03.33 PM

I know, I know….not another beach shot. I had like three in
our last week in Costa Rica…
started to feel like I was making inroads and  a name for
myself. But alas, we had to go home.

Who knows where and how this will evolve. If we stayed
there permanently, I feel there’d be
a market, judging by the response so far, and I have
a fairly good idea how I would push
offers and promotions to said markets.

Could this be one of the longest threads on Wedding Shows?

Screen Shot 2016-02-05 at 5.38.02 PM
One thing for sure, is it’s packed with some very good insights and
detailed analysis marketing reviews from Marian who attended several
shows this year and gave us a detailed synopsis of booth layout, design and
wedding trade show secrets. This is good stuff, and more keeps adding to it.

DIY Lighting…

Screen Shot 2016-02-05 at 5.45.20 PM

Neil says….”Great find on the Hurrell pullback shots!” in this thread on Marian’s post
on lighting….
Marian’s post….”Westcott calls them the Spiderlite kits and they sell
different variations (along with other vendors).
I couldn’t believe the size of this 500
watt bulb when I took it out of the box and it got me thinking. I like to DIY things and I
could rig up something permanently in my studio, with a few of these. (Heck, 3 of these
will give me 1500 watts.)
More wattage than the Spiderlite kits!…”  Click here or above to read more.

“Increasing your work radius….” an excellent post by Sean….:

Screen Shot 2016-02-05 at 6.21.21 PM
“I’m curious from anyone with stories they’d like to share who have expanded
their “work radius” ( to other towns, states, countries) and how its working for them. ”

Fairy models needed
Screen Shot 2015-12-05 at 12.10.25 PM
Sean’s looking for fairy models, “I’m currently having a problem getting more samples
of fairy portrait photos(always has been my problem really). I was suppose to have
a couple of girl models to shoot but it looks like they fell through for now. I’m under
the gun to get a couple more sets of samples. I currently have only one set of samples
from one model. Anyone have any ideas for quickly locating little models?”

Stepping outside my comfort zone
Screen Shot 2016-02-05 at 6.43.43 PM
Thomas said, “I rarely ever photograph at night.  This was a group of Models,
Make up artists and photographers that had a get together last night to
just go out and play in Old Sacramento.  I almost bailed at first as it didn’t
seem too organized but I stayed and glad I did. ”

The next noBs photosuccess Bull Pen Print Show is scheduled for December 16th, 2015.

A note from Ernie Basciano, our Bull Pen moderator:

Email up to a maximum of 3 images (NoBS Members) or a maximum of 2 images (for non-members) (unique images, not a series of similar ones) to me at bullpenprintshow@outlook.com and be sure to put “Bull Pen” in the subject line.

  • I will send a confirmation back to you when I have received your entry.
  • Images should be named with the title of the image.
  • If you do not receive a confirmation email please let me know in case I didn’t receive your submissions.
  • Please resize your entries to 1200px on the long side, jpg only. Watermarks are NOT allowed.
  • Name your image as the title for your entry.
  • Give your images a title that is suitable. Use the title in the file name so we can track it easily.
  • Judges will each recommend the image as either Not Accepted, Accepted, Merit, or Excellence.
  • We use PPA, PPOC, and WPPI style print competition levels.
*Not accepted= means it does not meet the minimum level requirements to “hang” as they say.
*Accepted prints= (at these events) will be put on display in the print room. And win a ribbon.
*Merit= means it’s a better image yet. Has reached a higher level of visual impact and accomplishment.
    *Excellence= is the highest achievement
If you were to attach a numerical value, not accepted 79 or less, accepted would score an 80 of higher, merit 85-95. Excellence would score 95+
